LOVED FIRST

1 John 4:19

Have you ever stopped to think about this?

God loved you first.

First John 4:19 says, “We love Him because He first loved us.”

Sometimes we spend so much time trying to prove our love for God.

We try to pray enough.

Serve enough.

Give enough.

Do enough.

But our relationship with God didn't begin with what we did for Him.

It began with what He did for us.

Before you ever reached for God, He was reaching for you.

Before you knew how to call His name, He knew yours.

Before you understood grace, He extended it.

Before you could ever love Him—

He loved you.

And when you really understand that, it changes everything.

You don't have to perform for God's love.

You don't have to compete for God's love.

And you don't have to earn God's love.

You get to respond to His love.

Your worship becomes a response.

Your obedience becomes a response.

Your service becomes a response.

And even the way you love other people becomes a response to the love you've already received.

So today, instead of asking yourself, “Am I doing enough for God?”

Ask yourself:

“Have I allowed myself to receive the love God has already given me?”

Because you were loved before you performed.

Loved before you proved anything.

You were loved first.

“We love Him because He first loved us.”
